Billing Transparency at Airbezz

At Airbezz, we believe cross-border logistics billing should be completely transparent. International shipping charges consist of multiple components including courier base rates, fuel surcharges, emergency situation additions, and government taxes. Understanding these factors will help you estimate costs and prevent unexpected invoice updates.

Actual Weight vs. Volumetric Weight

Courier services charge based on the space a package occupies in aircraft holds or container volumes, rather than just raw weight. We calculate the volumetric weight using: Length × Width × Height (in cm) ÷ 5000. Your billable weight is always the higher of the actual gross weight and this volumetric calculation. Ensure you use form-fitting boxes to keep volumetric weight to a minimum.

Understanding Duties and Taxes (DDU vs. DDP)

Customs duties and import taxes are levied by the destination country's government. How they are billed depends on your chosen shipping terms:

  • DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid): The customer pays the customs duties and local taxes directly at the time of delivery. The carrier will contact the recipient to collect these charges before releasing the package.
  • DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): You (the shipper) assume all custom clearances, duties, and import fees. Airbezz estimates these fees at checkout, compiles them into your weekly billing invoice, and pays local customs offices automatically to ensure a frictionless delivery experience for your customer.

Handling Weight Reconciliation Queries

Our warehouses weigh and scan every package using high-precision automated systems. If the weight measured by our scan differs from the weight entered during booking, a weight query will be flagged on your dashboard. You will have 7 days to accept the variance or upload photo/video proof to dispute the calculation before your wallet is billed.
